Purpose

Blockchain Business in Commerce & Design

Blockchain technology is an effective tool to handle data and increase transparency, trust and responsibility in value chains with many actors. But only a few Danish design and trade businesses use blockchain technology today. This is principally because businesses lack the knowledge of how to use the potential of the technology and how the business model should be designed in order to implement the technology.
This is the main focus of the project ‘Blockchain Business in Commerce & Design’, which aims to increase the businesses’ knowledge about the technology and improve their competences in taking strategic decisions about the choice and implementation of blockchain. There has also been a focus on the EU directive on increased product responsibility and the coming product passport.

Project focus
  • Secure identification of Danish products and design
  • Traceability and transparency in the businesses’ supply chains and the products’ life cycles.
  • Cost-efficient documentation of the products’ impact on the climate and environment and/or their qualitative characteristics (in preparation for the coming digital product passport).

An important tool

The purpose is to give Danish design businesses, their suppliers and customers the necessary competences to take strategic decisions on the choice, implementation and incorporation of blockchain technology in their work by ensuring documentation and compliance with EU’s coming regulatory conditions and furthering sustainability in their products, including traceability in the form of digital product passports.
