Imagine if data didn’t just cost money – but made money. In our Data to Business programme, we show Nordic brands how to use data strategically to create new revenue streams, strengthen customer loyalty, and increase market value.
The Digital Product Passport unlocks a digital highway, turning traceability and accountability into competitive advantages. 60 Nordic fashion, furniture, and design brands gain the knowledge, skills, and network they need to turn compliance into a strategic business opportunity.
Up to two employees per company will have the chance to visit inspiring and groundbreaking cases in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark while learning how to use data collection for business development.
Participants will also develop a prototype of a Digital Product Passport under expert guidance from leading Nordic specialists.
The programme concludes with an exhibition, where participants present their work to next-generation consumers, key buyers, and influencers.
“For Nordic companies, this is a unique opportunity to test and work with the EU’s Digital Product Passport. Additionally, it is a fantastic chance to bring together the most innovative players across the Nordics, strengthening our competitiveness in the international marke”
Supported by Interreg EU, and in collaboration with Nordic clusters and universities, this project will help 60 Nordic brands implement the EU’s Digital Product Passport.
A previous collaboration within the Nordic Blockchain Alliance has already demonstrated the market potential of Nordic brands’ transparency and traceability.
“Data, Information, and Circularity” builds on these insights to create synergies and enhance competitiveness across the Nordic region.
From Borås, Associate Professor in Textile Management Jonas Larsson sees the Digital Product Passport as a major opportunity to increase business competitiveness while making production more circular:
"The project aims to help Scandinavian companies generate and use data from their value chains to develop the Digital Product Passport. This will contribute to creating better products, increasing value for their customers, and making their climate impact more transparent," he explains.
"It will build trust when companies can document that workers in the fields and factories receive fair wages or that circular solutions like resale are offered. Transparency is the key to both increased competitiveness and strengthened circularity, ultimately fostering greater societal trust," says Professor Larsson from The Swedish School of Textiles, University of Borås.
The project is supported by Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak, with a budget of 14 million DKK, led by Lifestyle & Design Cluster.
Project leader and Head of Digital, Heidi Svane, sees significant value in building on the knowledge, experience, and partnerships from the previous Nordic Blockchain Alliance collaboration:
"Receiving support from Interreg is a strong recognition of our work and vision. For Nordic companies, this is a unique opportunity to test their own resources in relation to the Digital EU Passport," she says.
Interreg project advisor Niels Boye highlights the importance of cross-border collaboration in influencing the lifestyle sector regionally:
"The project addresses an urgent challenge – accelerating the green transition and reducing the environmental footprint of the fashion, furniture, and design industries in the Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak region. The transition is so extensive that no single player can handle it alone. It requires a joint Nordic effort, and this collaboration provides the scale and reach needed," he explains.
The project supports the EU Commission’s vision of a climate-neutral Europe by 2050 and aligns with the EU’s textile strategy and ECO-design Digital Product Passport (DPP). The goal is to foster a structured, data-driven approach to addressing industry challenges and building a more circular future.
The project is funded by Interreg ÖKS from Autumn 2024 to 31 August 2027.
