The path to innovation and development in Danish design, fashion and furniture companies
Lifestyle and Design Cluster is a national business cluster within design, fashion and furniture.
A cluster is an open, neutral platform that facilitates collaboration, boosts partnerships and accelerates knowledge-based innovation to meet the great challenges of the future.
We work to promote innovation, particularly in small and medium-sized businesses in clothing and home furnishings, but also in the associated creative sectors.
As a cluster under the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science, we identify, disseminate and embed new knowledge and function as bridge builders between businesses, knowledge institutions and research institutes. These activities enhance businesses’ abilities to innovate and compete, as business clusters are a key driving force behind the development of Denmark’s business strongholds.
In short:
This is where lifestyle businesses can be part of a strong sector-based community and get help with innovation.
At Lifestyle and Design Cluster we have close dialogue and a broad contact interface with the business community. In a wide variety of projects and activities, we generate new knowledge which is disseminated via events, cases, articles and newsletters. Each year around 800 businesses participate in seminars, conferences and short- and long-term events organised by Lifestyle and Design Cluster.
Besides its secretariat, Lifestyle & Design Cluster consists of a board of directors, sector profession groups and more than 280 dialogue businesses.
Our vision is that the cluster's stakeholders will become among the most innovative in the world through new knowledge, new ideas, and collaboration, thereby achieving commercial success.
Lifestyle and Design Cluster, in collaboration with cluster participants, sets ambitious goals for the industry's green transition and offers a mix of research and innovation activities within circular economy and internationalisation. These activities are provided in cooperation with leading researchers and experts, ensuring participants gain the greatest possible value and a unique opportunity to acquire new ideas and knowledge. We contribute by securing resources in collaboration with cluster participants to pursue prioritised initiatives.
Home and clothing companies share a common goal: fulfilling users’ lifestyle dreams.
Industry convergence occurs when businesses from different sectors begin to offer each other’s products or services, resulting in overlapping business areas. This has been particularly evident for furniture and textiles in recent years. As a result, these companies now share a common lifestyle foundation.
There is, therefore, a shared interest in and significant benefits from mutual sparring and knowledge-sharing. Together, they can leverage the valuable new insights provided by knowledge and research institutions within the cluster community.
