Can Denmark Lead the Textile Transition – and What Will It Take?

Why is a national action plan for textiles critical?

How can a National Action Plan for Textiles drive reduction for both the public and private sector and for civil society and the population as a whole?

What barriers need to be overcome?

The debate will be divided into two parts:

In the first part, the secretariat behind the forthcoming National Action Plan for textiles, will introduce the three tracks and the supporting initiatives in the action plan.

In the second part, panelists representing the public- and private sector and civil society, will be invited to share their perspective on and expectations for the forthcoming National action Plan for textiles.

Additional questions:

  • What is the primary problem that the forthcoming National Action Plan for Textiles (NHPT) is meant to solve - climate impact, waste, competitiveness, or consumer culture?
  • Is the broad involvement of stakeholders a strength – or does it risk watering down the ambitions?
  • When we stand here in 2028 – what should be measurably different for the NHPT to be considered a success?
  • Is the NHPT a time-limited project – or the beginning of a more permanent prioritization of transforming the Danish textile and fashion sector?
