In this podcast, you’ll meet Mette Dalgaard Nielsen and Else Skjold, both of whom conduct research into sustainable fashion and resale at the Royal Danish Academy. We also hear from a range of brands, including Bestseller, Soulland, Reshopper, NN07, Continued Fashion, Samsøe Samsøe, MiCollect, By Green Cotton, Konges Sløjd and Pufin Id.

In this second episode, we explore how resale is put into practice and map out different solutions. We look at various approaches, including resale marketplaces, the NGO-run second-hand market and brands’ own resale solutions. We examine where products end up in the resale market and what strategies brands can adopt for resale. We also hear critical perspectives that challenge current practices and their impact.

If you haven’t listened to the first episode, which provides a broader introduction to resale and explores the concept of sustainable fashion, pause here and listen to Episode 1 first.

How can digital innovation scale the fashion industry’s secondary market?

In this third episode, we focus on the role of technology in the resale market. We explore how technological solutions can help scale the resale market, how supply chains can be tracked, and whether solutions exist that enable brands to follow their garments into the secondary market. We look at the importance of data in general, as well as specific product data. How does technology affect the resale market, and how important is data in this context? We talk to a range of brands and technology providers, each working with resale in different ways.
