• Introduction to the markets in Denmark, Norway and Sweden
• Matchmaking with potential collaboration partners from the other countries.
Study trips
Since the 1950’s Nordic/Scandinavian furniture design has been known for solid craftsmanship, an emphasis on functionality, simplicity, minimalism and a light and clear design. Often inspired by the nature in regards to aesthetic and/or the choice of material. These are also the common reference points for many Nordic furniture companies and designers of today interpreting it in new ways, e.g. Danish companies and designers now working within the frame of circular economy. At the study trips the SME’s will experience a range of furniture design within the Nordic design frame to inspire them in their own work. The study trips are the following:
OSLO – JUNE 16th- 17th 2016
Topic: Design for public spaces and worklife
COPENHAGEN- AUGUST 18th- 19th 2016
Topic: Design and innovation in the circular economy
JONKOPING- NOVEMBER 10th- 11th 2016
Topic: Storytelling in a sustainability perspective
Inter-cluster strategy development activities
An evaluation of a possible joint effort on promoting Nordic design in another country is also carried out as part of the project. The purpose of this possible later effort would be to benefit from the fact that Nordic design is a well-known brand whereas Swedish, Danish and Norwegian design is not quite as known in many countries.
Partners in the project are Lifestyle & Design Cluster Denmark, Interior Cluster Sweden and Norwegian Rooms.
