11.00-11.45 – The Role of Craft in Fashion Education – Main Stage
Since the globalization hit the Danish fashion scene in the late 1980’s, almost all production and much product development has been outsourced and deployed the industry of know-how and textile skills. This development has been mimicked within education where crafts and textile skills has played a less prominent role and decreased the level of know-how and product innovation. As educations we now stand at a crossroad in time where the sustainable agenda calls for reshoring of know-how and re-installment of textile skills for making long-lasting products and services for maintenance and repurposing. But how can we do this? And what is actually asked for in the fashion industry of today?
